FREQUENTLY ASKED CAMP QUESTIONS

  • What do campers need to bring with them?

Campers will need to bring a full change of clothes in a Ziplock bag labeled with their name, lunch, a refillable water bottle, and a snack (or money for the vending machine).  Swimmers will need to come in their swimsuit, with a towel, their camp shirt, and a change of clothes.

  • Is lunch/snack included for campers?

No.  We do not provide any food.  Please be sure to pack a lunch and a snack for your camper. We do not have the ability to refrigerate or heat lunches, so please plan accordingly.  Full day campers will also need an additional snack for afternoon snack time.

  • Do campers need to swim?

No. The campers that choose not to swim will stay in the classroom and have creative choice time.

  • Do campers receive a true swim lesson?

Yes! Younger campers that need to learn to swim will be taken through an organized swim lesson. Older campers that know how to swim will participate in organized pool games or races. If your child needs a swim lesson in these older groups, please let a staff member know.

  • What is the ratio of campers to pool instructors?

The ratio of instructors to campers is 1:4 in the pool.  We also have one counselor, and lifeguards on deck.

  • Can siblings/friends be grouped together?

Campers are grouped by age, and once groups are finalized, we cannot move campers due to required ratios. Group placement is not guaranteed. If you would like your camper to be considered to be with another child, please email lacey@metroplexgym.net. Requests will be noted in your child’s account within 24–48 hours. Requests submitted over the weekend will be added Monday afternoon before Tuesday’s list is made.

Please note that all grouping requests are cleared at the end of each summer and do not carry over to the following year.

For safety and supervision, we cannot accommodate grouping requests when there is an age difference of more than four years between campers. Group lists are finalized by 3pm the day prior.

  • What is the Refund Policy if my child is sick?

Camp is non-refundable.  However, you may receive an account credit to use for another day if you call to cancel your reservation prior to the beginning of the camp day.  We are flexible for sudden illness or emergencies. However, if you do not show up and you fail to notify us via phone call, voicemail, or email, no credit will be given.

  • What age does my child have to be to come to camp?

Your child must be 3 years or older, as well as potty trained to attend camp. The maximum age to attend camp is 12.

  • Does my child need to wear a Metroplex camp shirt?

Camp shirts are $10 plus tax. Your card on file will be charged for a camp shirt on your camper’s first day of camp, as well as any day they arrive without one. Shirts may also be purchased ahead of time.

If your camper is swimming, please send them dressed in their swimsuit under their camp shirt/pants. We recommend comfortable shorts without buttons or zippers, as these can damage our gymnastics and ninja equipment.

  • Can I drop off my child early? Pick up late?

Yes! We offer free early drop-off beginning at 7:30am. The camp sessions begin promptly at 9am - to ensure you do not miss swim time, or the special event of the day, please be sure to arrive on time.  The sessions are over at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. There will be a 10-minute grace period (ex: 2:10 pm or 6:10pm) for picking up your child late without being charged a late fee. After the grace period, you will be charged $10.00 for each 5 minutes you are late, which will be charged to your card on file.

  • How do we check in and check out for camp?

Morning carpool drop off will run from 7:30 am to 8:45 am. You will need to park and walk your child inside if dropping off after carpool closes at 8:45 am. When you drop off, either in carpool or at the front desk, you will receive a numbered tab that corresponds with the wristband your child will wear for the day. A new wristband is issued daily.  Our carpool lane is available for parents to pick up. We will have a carpool lane available from 1:45 pm – 2:10 pm for our half day campers. If you are picking up your child outside that time frame, please text 972-439-4680 10 minutes prior to your arrival. Please include your camper’s first and last name in the text as well as the make/model/color of your car and we will get them ready for pickup. If someone other than the person who dropped off the camper is picking up please provide them with a picture of the camper’s tab. If a tab is not available at pick up a driver’s license can be used if it matches one of the parent/guardian/ emergency contact person names on the account. Your child will not be released without the corresponding tab or a driver’s license matching a name on your account.

  • What is the procedure for my child if he/she has an allergy?

If your child has been diagnosed with a known food allergy, please indicate your physician’s food allergy emergency plan in the medical section of your camper’s online profile. Please also send a copy via email to office@metroplexgym.net so we can note this on their roll sheet comment. Your child will also be given a food allergy wristband every morning at check in.

  • What if my child needs medication while he/she is at camp?

If it is necessary for us to give the child medication while he/she is at camp, the medication must be in the original bottle and labeled with the child’s name. If your child requires an EpiPen, please have a prescription from your doctor to go with the EpiPen which will be kept at camp.

  • Can my child bring toys and games with them to camp?

We strongly recommend parents do not allow your child to bring toys, electronics, or special items from home. Metroplex Gymnastics is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
